Anxiety panic and Insomnia – Are There insomnia Cures?

It’ll come as no great revelation to state that the causes of insomnia are many and varied. Also, it’s self evident that natural anxiety, stress and just plain worry are common factors that result in sleepless nights.

Chamomile contains a naturally occurring chemical called chrysin and it’s this chemical that’ll promote drowsiness and encourage sleep. One thing to bear in mind, chamomile can create an allergic reaction similar to that of ragweed, aster or chrysanthemum. If you react, just don’t drink it.

A very tasty brew can be obtained with this recipe using a tea bag or loose leaves …

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers
  • lemon juice
  • honey

Preparation:

Add the chamomile to boiling water either using a tea infuser or directly into the water. Cover and boil for 35 to 40 seconds.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the tea steep for one minute.
If using loose tea, remove with a strainer.
Serve with honey and a twist of lemon. For an added calming effect try using Lemon Balm instead of lemon juice.

Try drinking a cup 30 to 45 minutes before going to sleep and there’s a very, very good chance you’ll be rewarded with a relaxing nights sleep free from anxiety.

Something else you might like to try. You could place a sachet of chamomile under your pillow, or for that matter lavender, there’s a very good chance this will also have a somewhat soporific effect.
